Perennial evergreen bulbiferous scapose herbs; bulbs tunicate, ovoid or globose, 2-2.5 cm x 2-2.5 cm. Leaves many, fascicled, linear, flattened, 16.5-27 cm x 5-8 mm, dull green. Flowers erect, solitary on top of scape, scape 18.5-23 cm long, erect; spathe 2-2.5 cm long, membranous, tubular at base, split into 2 at apex; pedicels 3.5-3.7 cm long, much longer than spathe. Flowers bisexual, actinomorphic, epigynous, trimerous, rose pink, funnelform, +-3.5 cm long, 3.5-4 cm across. Tepals 6, in two whorls of 3 each, connate at base; tube ca. 5 mm long, green, increasing in diameter from base to upwards, throat green; lobes ca. 3.5 cm x 0.8-1.3 cm, lobes of outer whorl broader than of inner whorl, oblanceolate or obovate, mucronate; tepals not reflexed. Stamens 6, inserted at base of perianth tube; filaments 1.5-1.6 cm, subequal; anthers ca. 7 mm long, dorsifixed. Ovary inferior, 3-3.5 mm long, oblong or ovoid, 3-lobed and 3-locular, many ovules per loculus; style slender, ca. 2.5 cm long; stigma 3-lobed, exserted, 8-9 mm above the anthers, lobes 3 mm long. Fruit 3-lobed, 3-locular, 3-valved loculicidal capsule; seeds many, ca. 4-2.5 mm, oblong, black.
Floral parts show variations: Perianth with 8 tepals in 2 whorls of 4 each, occasionally 7 tepals; stamens 5 or 7; stigma with 4 lobes.
